White out part of a PDF
Cover anything on the page with a box matched to the colour of the paper, on scans as well as ordinary pages. If the text is simply wrong rather than confidential, editing the line gives a better result than hiding it.
Questions
- Is this the same as redaction?
- No, and the difference matters. A whiteout box conceals what is underneath but does not remove it from the file. If the content is confidential, edit the line instead so the words are gone.
- Does it work on scans?
- Yes. The box is matched to the colour of the paper around it.
- What if I want the text changed rather than hidden?
- Select the line and retype it. See editing PDF text.
- Can I undo it?
- Yes, as many steps as you need.
