White out part of a PDF

Cover anything on the page with a box matched to the colour of the paper, on scans as well as ordinary pages. If the text is simply wrong rather than confidential, editing the line gives a better result than hiding it.

Questions

Is this the same as redaction?
No, and the difference matters. A whiteout box conceals what is underneath but does not remove it from the file. If the content is confidential, edit the line instead so the words are gone.
Does it work on scans?
Yes. The box is matched to the colour of the paper around it.
What if I want the text changed rather than hidden?
Select the line and retype it. See editing PDF text.
Can I undo it?
Yes, as many steps as you need.
