Compress a PDF

Reduce the size of a PDF at one of three levels. Text stays sharp at every level; it is the images inside the file that are recompressed, and you can compare the results on screen before you commit to one.

Questions

How much smaller will my file be?
It depends on the contents. A document of plain text will barely change, while one full of photographs can lose most of its size.
Will the text become blurry?
No. Only images are recompressed. A scanned page counts as an image, so treat a scan accordingly.
Which level should I choose?
The lightest reorganises the file and leaves the images alone. The strongest re-encodes photographs and gives much the largest saving.
Can I undo it?
Yes. Step back and try a different level.
